Our Heritage
We are the custodians of one of Hungary's most significant oilfield legacies.
Our roots go back to 1957, when the National Oil and Gas Trust (OKGT) was established. Our predecessor, the Szolnok Oil Exploration Company, pioneered domestic oil and gas exploration and developed Szolnok into a genuine industrial centre.
In its heyday, the company operated 47 drilling and workover rigs with over 3,000 oilfield professionals, supporting Hungary's energy independence. This enormous body of knowledge and professional heritage is what MB 2001 Ltd. proudly carries forward and continues to develop.
Szolnok's strategic location — in the heart of the Great Hungarian Plain, with excellent transport links — has always enabled the company to efficiently serve extraction projects across the country. The geological and engineering expertise accumulated here represents unique intellectual capital that we continue to build upon today.
Following the political transition, the state enterprise was restructured in parallel with the transformation of the industry. MB 2001 Ltd. integrated the experience, personnel and technical know-how of its predecessor organisations into a 21st-century, ISO-certified, internationally recognised service company.
Today, with 3 regularly maintained rigs (RIG-47, RIG-22, RIG-49), full rigless service capacity, we provide our clients with comprehensive services. As part of the MB Holding (Oman) group, we combine local expertise with the best global industry practices.

The Hungarian state oil and gas trust establishes organised drilling operations in the Great Hungarian Plain. The foundations of today's MB 2001 are laid in Szolnok.

Transformation

MB 2001 Oilfield Services Ltd. is officially established as part of the MB Holding group, combining local heritage with international capital and management expertise.
